The Aurora name
In 1994 the father of my two daughter and I sold everything we owned, gave up the most beautiful, rented apartment and bought a camper in Germany. We moved from a 280 m2 apartment into a 9m2 converted camper. We were going to explore the world. The plan was to drive around Europe. But we with some help from above, we stayed in a little town in Ligure, Italy for 2 years.
For me it was a beginning of a new chapter in my life. Leaving Denmark in faith – ending up in Italy not knowing the languages or anybody – and with very little money. At the same time my spiritual path was budding.
We visited a couple (we’d met a year earlier in Denmark) at their farm outside Rome. I remember when we drove past the Vatican I got so drain from energy and I was told, it was because they were sending out some form of subliminal frequencies. I had no idea what that meant, at that time. I do now!
One afternoon the wife came walking towards me in the garden. She looked at me. She started talking to me about my daughter. Exciting… until it dawned on me that she was talking about my unborn child. I did not know I was pregnant at the time. She said: “Your daughter has chosen to come down to you. She has chosen you as parents”. I became completely dizzy and had to recover for a few days.
The last evening at farm the couple asked me if I wanted a session. A session? I had attended one of their workshops in Denmark, but was not at all aware of what was going on and I had no idea what to expect.
I lay down gently with my head on the wife’s lap. She sat with her legs crossed and with a pillow in her lap. He, the husband, was also sitting on the floor, with a huge bodymap book in front of him. With one hand he was scanning my body while his other hand was pointing at the drawings of different parts of a body in the book. He then told me something about how my body felt. And it was not all okay! No, I knew because 9 years of anorexia and bulimia leaves some tracks on a body! But what I remember most clearly was, at the time I had been lying with my eyes closed for about 50 mins an explosion of lights – a mix of amazing colors and 1000s of stars happened inside my head. I saw pictures of Jesus on the cross and other godlike things. I was startled and had no idea of what was happening to me. While this was going on, both the husband with his hand on my stomach and one of the other participants said “Aurora” in the same second – out of the blue. It was then, my unborn daughter told me her name. Aurora is the poetic name of the Roman goddess of sunrise, whose tears turned into the morning dew.
The name Aurora is also used in the meaning of dawn. The name is also used to describe the spectacular natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights. Her big sister thought she should be called Sofie, so is her name Sofie Aurora.
A history of God given names runs in the family
Sara Victoria
When I gave birth to my first daughter, we had a similar experience. She was wrapped in a victory shirt when she was born and the midwife (from England) said: “Oh, What a little Victoria”. The midwife had no idea that we had already given our baby the name Victoria. Her father chose Sara Victoria, because she was the reason, I stopped my destructive way of living. She was my Victory!
Of course, I named my hospital The Victoria Center back in 2006.
And now in 2022 I have a 2nd chance in life – and I’m naming the place after my 2nd daughter.
Sara Lotz
When I was born in the early 60’s, Sara was not a common name in Denmark. For some reason, my mom knew and liked it the name. My father on the other hand was not crazy about it at all. I don’t know why, but I wonder if it was because it was different – and a little too strange. One day the name was for debate in the family. My uncle stepped in. He was well acquainted with the almanac of several countries. An almanac is a list of calendar and names of the days. My uncle wisely told my parents that they should go and visit the pastor and ask him what the date of my birth was called. I think my father for a moment must have felt somewhat overwhelmed, when the pastor said: Sara. Then the case was settled. I was baptized Sara.
